Job Title: Support Staff
Department: Kitchen/Back of the House
Reports To: Head Chef, Sous Chef, and Floor Managers
Job Summary:
Support Staff, also known as bussers or food runners, are essential members of the restaurant team responsible for ensuring a clean and organized dining area, assisting servers, and ensuring that guests have a positive dining experience. They play a crucial role in maintaining the flow of service, enhancing the overall atmosphere, and contributing to the success of the restaurant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Table Setup and Reset:
- Set up tables with utensils, glassware, and condiments before guests arrive.
- Reset and clean tables promptly after guests depart, ensuring a fresh dining environment for the next party.
- Bussing and Clearing:
- Continuously monitor tables for used dishes, glassware, and trash.
- Clear empty plates, glassware, and debris from tables promptly.
- Dispose of used items in the appropriate receptacles.
- Support for Servers:
- Assist servers by refilling beverages, providing additional condiments, or delivering requested items to tables.
- Collaborate with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure efficient service.
- Cleanliness and Organization:
- Maintain a clean and organized dining area, including sweeping and spot cleaning as needed.
- Ensure that restrooms are clean and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Assist in Setup and Closing:
- Assist with opening and closing duties, such as setting up the dining area, restocking supplies, and cleaning.
- Collaborate with servers and kitchen staff to prepare for service and ensure a smooth closing process.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a similar role in the restaurant industry is a plus.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain cleanliness and order.
- Effective communication and multitasking skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and move quickly between tables.
- Stamina to handle a fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Manual dexterity for clearing tables and handling trays.
Working Conditions:
- Work is typically performed in a restaurant setting.
- Exposure to a busy, fast-paced dining environment.
- Work hours may include evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
